English-German dictionary: latest addition / changes
Santa Claus

noun, singular, [AmE]
also: Santa (inf.); as there is only one Santa, it should not be used in the plural
Info: nowadays, Santa Claus is usually represented as a jolly fat old man with a white beard and a red suit, who brings gifts to good children on Christmas Eve
Synonyms: Father Christmas (BrE)
Example: Christmas at my house is always at least six or seven times more pleasant than anywhere else. We start drinking early. And while everyone else is seeing only one Santa Claus, we'll be seeing six or seven.
(W.C. FIELDS, American Actor, 1880-1946)
der Weihnachtsmann

Substantiv, Einzahl, {m}
